In Cape Coral, a boat is almost as much a part of the holiday as the pool. The city has more than 400 miles of canals, many vacation villas sit right on the water – and the boat is delivered to your own dock. Using the Rinker Q7, one of our most popular boats, we show how renting works, what it costs and what to keep in mind.

How Boat Rental with Your Villa Works

You book the boat together with your villa or add it later. On the first rental day it is delivered to your dock, usually around 10 am. You receive a detailed briefing – not just on handling the boat, but also on the rules and particularities of local boat traffic. On the last day the boat is picked up again around 4 pm. If those times do not fit your trip, we will arrange alternatives with you after booking.

Boats are delivered to addresses within about 20 miles of Cape Coral. With a canal-front villa, that means you step aboard behind the house and are out on the water within minutes.

Example: the Rinker Q7

The Rinker Q7 is a 27-foot bowrider with a 350 HP Mercury engine and room for up to 12 people. On board you will find GPS, a depth finder, a Bluetooth stereo, a table, shower and sink, and a swim ladder. That makes it equally suited to a relaxed day in the canal system and to a longer run out into the Gulf of Mexico.

It can be booked with a large number of our villas – the villa page shows under "Boat" whether that applies to the house you have in mind. One example is Villa Big Easy with the Rinker Q7.

What Does a Boat Cost?

The daily rate drops the longer you rent. For the Rinker Q7 it looks like this (as of October 2026):

  • 3 days: $485 per day – $1,455 in total
  • 4 days: $435 per day – $1,740 in total
  • 7 days: $370 per day – $2,590 in total
  • 10 days: $330 per day – $3,300 in total

The rental price includes the boat, sales tax and cleaning of the boat. On top of that there is a one-off $200 for delivery and instruction, plus on-water breakdown cover (Sea Tow). The minimum rental is two days. A $1,400 security deposit is also due, which you get back after the boat is returned.

Do I Need a Boating Licence?

In Florida you do not need a boating licence in the European sense – a valid driver's licence is enough. If you were born on or after 1 January 1988, you also need a Florida Boating Safety Identification Card. We will clarify exactly what applies to you before handover.

The boats are commercially insured. Water-skiing, tubing, wakeboards, banana boats and similar activities are not permitted, however.

Where to Take the Boat

For a first day, a loop through the canals is often enough. Later on, trips to the beaches of Sanibel and Captiva, to Matlacha on the way to Pine Island, or to the sandbars off Fort Myers Beach are well worth it. Which destinations are especially rewarding and what to know before your first trip out is covered in our article Boating in Cape Coral: Rentals, Routes and Tips.

Our Tip

Plan the boat in when you book the villa. In peak season between December and April, the popular boats are taken early. Also check whether your villa has direct access to the Gulf or whether there is a bridge on the way – we are happy to tell you which boat suits which house.
